Senior Technology M&A Investment Banker

Reports To: Managing Partners

Location of Position:  Flexible – New York City, Washington, DC or San Francisco is preferred

Description of Position:  We seek a detailed Senior Investment Banker with a proven track record.  We seek committed and proactive individuals with excellent analytical and interpersonal skills to support the entire M&A engagement process related to IT Software & IT Services company transactions, teamed with Managing Partners.   The position offers great flexibility and freedom to run your own transactions, benefit from our long-term successful platform and win quality mandates with high close ratios.

Transaction origination, processing and overall transaction management is desired, along with the ability to conduct extensive client financial due diligence and preparation for developing comprehensive informational memorandums and management presentations for prospective investors/buyers.  Analysis will include detailed financial and written analyses that assess companies, their products & services, industries, growth opportunities, valuations and investment merits.

You will work closely with clients, corporate buyers and private equity investors throughout M&A engagements.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • MBA in Finance with 5 years or more M&A experience in IT Services and/or Software.
  • Experience in presenting to Board Members and originating transactions.
  • Experience with financial modeling/analysis, corporate valuations and third-party due diligence.
  • Excellent financial analysis, research, writing & presentation, and project-management skills.
  • Strong executive presence with the demonstrated ability to develop a rapport with colleagues and clients.
  • Organized, thorough, and detail oriented.
  • Self-starter able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • High level of energy, enthusiasm and integrity.

Head of Business Development

Reports To: Managing Partners

Description of Position: The Business Development Manager works closely with our investment professionals to originate new M&A engagements for the firm. The business development manager has a significantly amount of responsibility and is required to demonstrate a self-starter attitude, high energy, professionalism and positive personality in creating and generating new assignments.

Primary Roles & Responsibilities: Prospective client research & outreach

  • Identify and research high growth enterprise software and IT services companies both domestically and internationally.
  • Screen for new companies of scale in our sectors of focus.
  • Call and/or e-mail new companies, with goal of setting up call or meeting with Partners and participate in calls/meetings as appropriate.
  • Identify portfolio companies of private equity groups that are considering a liquidity event.
  • Utilize Social Networking sites to access and leverage contacts.
  • Oversee planning of business development related events/conferences attended by Agile
  • Create acquisition target lists and investor contact lists for prospective clients and assignments.
  • Goal: At least 10 calls/emails per week to new leads and/or existing prospective clients generating at least 5 new engagements/year (and growing).

Presentation Materials:

  • Work on company pitch materials with point person and assigned banker/partner.
  • Work with point person on all aspects of pitch / proposal presentations: industry research, comps, investment thesis, process overview, etc.
  • Use Capital IQ and other databases for screening, public and private comps, etc.
  • Create quarterly industry overview newsletters in collaboration with Partners.
  • Other responsibilities as identified as resulting in successful engagement of new investment banking clients.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • 3-5+ years work experience
  • Experience and demonstrated success in sales, marketing, and/or business development role a plus; will also consider candidates with backgrounds in strategic consulting, investment banking, private equity and/or enterprise software or IT services marketing experience.
  • Excellent phone skills and the willingness to constantly outreach to CEOs and private equity firms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills
  • Highly proficient in Powerpoint, Excel, MS Word and overall computer skills
